Caverion has been awarded a contract by Messe Düsseldorf GmbH for the refurbishment and expansion of Exhibition Hall 9. Caverion will deliver ventilation, cooling, sanitation and compressed air systems. The parties have agreed not to disclose the contract value.
Messe Düsseldorf GmbH is continuously developing and modernising its exhibition grounds. Halls and other infrastructure facilities are being refurbished, expanded or redeveloped in phases until 2040. Caverion has previously participated in the modernisation of Exhibition Halls 10, 11 and 12.
The redevelopment of Hall 9 includes the construction of a new functional building with entrance areas and conference facilities. Once completed, the total floor area, including technical rooms, staff facilities, foyer and bistro, will amount to approximately 15,000 square metres.
"For this project, close coordination across all building services disciplines and adherence to a demanding construction schedule are particularly important. Installation works must be carried out without disrupting ongoing trade fairs and events. Our expertise in delivering complex large-scale projects, combined with prefabrication and carefully planned execution, enables us to meet these requirements," says Manfred Simmet, CEO of Caverion Germany.
Messe Düsseldorf welcomes more than one million visitors each year across approximately 35 trade and public exhibitions. The high visitor density places significant demands on the hygiene, functionality and reliability of the building systems.
Caverion is installing four air handling units and 66 radial air diffusers in Hall 9. The ventilation system is designed for an airflow capacity of 544,000 m³/h. In addition, Caverion is connecting two supply and return manifolds to the exhibition centre's chilled water network and carrying out extensive refurbishment works on the drinking water system.
The work by Caverion is scheduled to continue until October 2027.
