Objectives
- The 21,750 square meter Iso Paja office building in Pasila, built in 1993, needed renovation.
- The building technology of the property’s office space was old-fashioned and needed upgrading to meet modern requirements. In conjunction with the upgrade, almost all the premises were also renovated.
Solutions
- We delivered all building service systems to the property: heating, water and sewage, ventilation and air conditioning, refrigeration, electrification, information and communication technology, security, sprinkler and gas extinguishing, and automation.
- The construction project was implemented in a collaborative model, in which all parties involved in the project committed to common goals.
- In conjunction with the renovation, energy efficiency was improved by renewing building service systems and, among other things, introducing renewable energy.
- We designed the facilities according to the needs of its users; open and suitable for today.
- We delivered a roof-mounted photovoltaic (PV) system that generates a significant portion of the electricity needed in the IV engine room.
- Project development began in autumn 2016 and the work was completed in 2018. During the project, the real estate company ordered an extended warranty for 2 + 3 years, including maintenance and control room services.

Iso Paja in brief
Iso Paja was completed in 1993. The office building served as YLE's main building until March 2017. As the need for space decreased, Yle sold the Iso Paja to YLE's Pension Foundation, whose personnel will continue to work in Iso Paja, where VR Group's head office has also been located since May 2018.
